iG (Internet Generation) is the first Brazilian free ISP that started on January 9, 2000. Since then, it has become a worldwide success case, serving several millions of customers. iG is a part of the largest Latin America's Internet Group, and is considered the most recognized Internet brand in Brazil. iG is the largest Brazilian ISP, offering access to 1496 cities and recording 15 thousand new free e-mail subscribers per day.

What Netsweeper and iG Accomplished Collaboratively

iG partnered with Netsweeper to offer the Netsweeper Premium filtering solution to its subscribers. Netsweeper's near-real-time filtering capabilities and consistently high accuracy in English, Portuguese, and Spanish marked it as an advanced solution ideal for the South American market. With the Netsweeper Desktop Filter, each subscriber can create and configure multiple profiles in the household. The release also adds new tools like P2P, IM, and newsgroup blocking, along with time-based controls, and control over FTP and VoIP protocols. The Netsweeper solution offers end users step through menus, making it easy to install and configure. The client portion of the software is approximately 1Mb to download, making it ideal for iG's many dial-up customers. In addition, Feature enhancements and customizations were made to the Netsweeper solution in order to make the filtering solution viable for iG to deploy to its customers. The entire interface of the client application and supporting documentation was translated in Portuguese to make it accessible to the Brazilian public.
