nsConnect

nsConnect is a powerful service which can significantly enhance your 3rd party Internet filtering or management applications . With nsConnect you have the ability to submit URLs and have categorizations returned – even brand new sites - on demand.

Your need may be to determine whether to allow or deny access or you may just be looking for more data to monitor and report on traffic patterns.  In any case, nsConnect gives you a method to take advantage of our categorization engines and technology.

nsConnect uses a proprietary protocol to send URLs and receive category rulings from the Netsweeper Categorization Network. By using a simple network protocol rather than several APIs, nsConnect provides a simple, multi-platform interface. The nsConnect can handle up to 10,000 requests per second.

Netsweeper currently offers 45 categories, including user and system categories. User categories include categories such as pornography, gambling, hate/racial, and job search. System categories include categories such as malformed URL, directory, images, and new URL/no category. Categorization is based on English language URLs with some support for additional languages in certain categories. Custom categories (or languages) can be created for you and your application.
