Internet Safety Policy

Educational organizations are often required to implement Internet Safety Policies. These policies are imperative in facilitating safe and positive learning environments within schools, boards and districts. Additionally, in order to receive e-rate funding, an Internet Safety Policy is required in order to be CIPA compliant.

The Internet Safety Policy must address the following issues:

  • Access by minors to inappropriate material on the Internet and World Wide Web
  • The safety and security of minors when using electronic mail, chat rooms, and other forms of direct electronic communications
  • Unauthorized access, including so-called "hacking", and other unlawful activities by minors online
  • Unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal information regarding minors
  • Measures designed to restrict minors' access to materials harmful to minors

Netsweeper educational content filtering software helps ensure the online safety of students and staff within educational organizations and provides a tangible and practical solution to enforcing Internet Safety policies.
