News: Netsweeper Announces Release of Filtering Technology for Mac OS X

Guelph, ON, Canada (PRWeb) January 11, 2010 - Netsweeper, a global provider of Internet content filtering and web threat management solutions, is excited to announce the release of filtering technology designed to further enable IT authorities to control and manage Internet access and activity on Macintosh devices.

With the adoption of remote devices running Mac OS X on the rise, Netsweeper customers have requested a client that would extend their filtering capabilities beyond their network to manage Macbooks and Mac desktops. Acting on this request, Netsweeper is proud to announce the production release of a client agent specific for these devices. Once installed, those operating Mac devices will remain protected from inappropriate or harmful content and web-borne threats such as viruses, spyware, phishing scams and other malicious applications.

"The Mac client fills a significant product gap in the content filtering market. With over 60% of our customer base being education related, and seeing the adoption of OS X in the classroom and Macbooks becoming more mainstream in this new age of 1:1 computing, it was imperative for Netsweeper to focus on this final piece,' stated Perry Roach, Chief Executive Officer at Netsweeper. "This client will allow IT managers to ensure their networks and all remote devices, including those running Mac, Windows or Linux, are properly protected from the growing number of dangers our children face each day while online."
